Through CEI’s Sashakt Beti initiative, CEI is rescuing girls and women from most marginalized and vulnerable sections of society. CEI is providing these girls who belong to most poor rural sections, with a normal childhood. Four year old tribal girl Mangala doesn’t have her father and she is suffering from stunting due to malnutrition. She lives in a remote village with no access to clean water, food, sanitation or basic amenities. Her village in rural Maharashtra has been struck by cyclone multiple times and has been among the worst affected by Covid-19 Pandemic.
Her childhood is filled with poverty, deprivation & neglect. She belongs to an extremely below poverty line Particularly Vulnerable tribal group (PVTG). PVTG is a special category for those selected scheduled tribes who are especially disadvantaged. Her stomach is distended due to severe malnutrition. CEI Sashakt Beti initiative provides sufficient food provisions, nutrition and overall care to such tribal daughters.
Due to the Pandemic, the incidence of malnutrition has worsened and is highest among BPL tribal girls especially those who are in the very early stages of their childhood. CEI is reaching out and providing adequate nutrition AND all possible requirements for these tribal girls, rural women providing all the necessary provisions for health & hygiene #CEISashaktBeti Sharmila is an orphan extremely impoverished tribal girl, she had to resort to child labor in order to eat. At such a young age, she is looking after her grandmother alone, always with a smile. Their economic condition worsened during the prolonged spells of Pandemic in rural Maharashtra.
Sashakt Beti Program is a holistic empowerment program for girl child and women, which also looks after the education requirements of girls belonging to below poverty line tribal groups and other marginalised communities in remote rural areas. Reena ji belongs to BPL Kalbelia Nomadic tribe living in remote village in Agar, Madhya Pradesh and she is suffering from serious Kidney ailment. CEI is working among the most destitute, deprived and neglected sections of the children. These neglected children, especially our tribal daughters are at high risk to various kinds of disease, growth impairment, violence, trafficking, abuse etc. Our tribal daughter Darshana, orphaned at a young age, does not have to sleep hungry or resume begging to eat. Sashakt Beti takes care of her in the remote tribal village.
CEI has received official Letter of Appreciation from various Village Panchayat Administration which comes under the State government, for such Empowerment initiatives, which CEI had kept going uninterrupted even during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Village Panchayat Administration assesses the veracity of Food & Medical Program, number of beneficiaries etc. after CEI has conducted the program in the village. Only after they have assessed and verified everything, then, these Letters are given by Village Panchayat. This highlights the credibility of CEI’s relief and empowerment initiatives.
